Update on gull research while waiting for capelin
As the Davoren lab patiently wait for the arrival of capelin at our sites, it seems that gulls cannot do the same. Recent tracking data showed one of our gull flying south to a site where capelin was recently reported on Twitter and eCapelin.ca! This suggests that our gulls feed on capelin with other seabird species.
His blue friend also gave us a nice suprised by flying all the way to St Johns and back. With our birds visiting more urban areas, we were hoping to rise awareness of the project in the community. If you happen to see a gull with yellow or blue colour band or wearing a logger (as seen in following picture) let us know or visit: https://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBL/bblretrv/
