Jellyfish Sightings Wanted!

Our lab aims to investigate when jellyfish begin to show up in coastal regions across Newfoundland and how their abundance changes throughout the summer. The ultimate goal is to understand the impact jellyfish may be having on local fisheries and coastal ecosystems.
We are looking to collaborate with citizens and tour companies across Newfoundland! By combining observations people make while going about their daily lives, we hope to get a large-scale picture of jellyfish patterns across the province- something that would not be possible without the help of many people working together. If this is something you are interested in, check out our poster (see below) for details! Jellyfish have not been well studied in Newfoundland, and you would be helping to begin filling in a major knowledge gap.
If you are able to walk a similar stretch of beach repeatedly throughout the summer, this would offer invaluable insight into changes occurring over the season.
